
Interoception and Trauma

Description
(March 2024) Trauma impacts children and adolescents in profound ways especially depending on the age and stage of development the event/s occurred. Interoception is an eighth sensory system involved in developing our autonomic functions as well as how our body is feeling emotions in a given moment. This workshop will consider the definitions of interoception, the functions thereof and signs and symptoms to look for. Included will be strategies and ideas for intervention that support effective intervention planning.

Maude Le Roux, OTR/L, is an international trainer in a variety of different courses. She is SIPT certified and specializes in Sensory Integration services as it applies to functional activities of daily living, including improving the ability of children/students of all ages to partake in his/her learning environment. She designs her own live courses with regards to occupational functioning and works with a team of occupational therapists and speech language pathologists in her practice at A Total Approach. She serves on the board for ATTACh where her portfolio includes providing training opportunities for occupational therapists with regards to attachment and trauma informed care. She opened virtual The Maude Le Roux Academy in January 2019, and has presented at conferences in a variety of settings across the US as well as internationally. She has co-authored two books and completed a chapter on sensory processing in ATTACh’s new book: Hope for Healing, which will be released soon.
