This webinar will explore ways to engage and empower youth in their own independent living plan. Kim Lemcke from DHS will provide tools and resources for county and tribal workers. She will also provide foster parents with ways to assist foster youth in navigating a successful transition to adulthood.
Kim Lemcke is the Independent Living Coordinator for the State of Minnesota, through the Department of Human Services, Adolescent Services Unit, with over 26 years of experience within the child welfare system. She has been in this position for over 10 years, working with county, tribal, and community agency staff to provide independent living skills services to eligible foster youth. Prior to this work, Kim was a child protection worker in a county agency for 13 years, which included coordinating as well as providing independent living services. Prior to that, Kim was a staff member at a residential treatment facility for 3 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in criminal justice.
