(May 2022) What is in the best interest of the child? This is a common phrase used in foster care and adoption communities. What does it really mean? This workshop will help navigate the 10 Best Interest Factors of Children and how the factors are taken into consideration for children in foster care or under the guardianship of the commissioner. Stearns County staff explain each of the 10 best interest factors and how they are used to make decisions.  We’ll explore how a child’s best interest is taken into consideration throughout a case – from placement to permanency. Led by Stearns County Human Services Supervisor, Michael Heinen, and featuring additional Stearns County child welfare staff, this workshop navigates making decisions using the 10 Best Interest Factors for Children.
