Description

(October 2017) In today’s world, differences of race, class and culture are hot button topics based on a harsh reality of historic discrimination. Today, biases (big and small) and unhealthy behaviors (obvious and not-so-obvious) are common practices and perpetuate precarious situations. In an effort to encourage a healthy dialog of such realities and how these realities impact the adoption experience, this workshop will ask a very simple, poignant and necessary question. “Have you ever started a conversation about race?”

Asking this question will allow exploration of how differences in race, class and culture impact individuals, members of the community of adoption and citizens of the wider world.
