Amie Summers, LICSW, SEP

Amie serves her community as a private-practice clinician working primarily with children, teens, and families, as a caregiver/parent and professionals consultant, and as a trainer of mental health practitioners. She has the distinct honor of witnessing her clients, many of whom are from “hard places,” re-discover their (they’re) awesome utilizing a variety of modalities, with the express intentions of supporting greater regulation, the safe processing of trauma, and building attachment (and enjoyment!) between children/youth and their caregivers. Those modalities include Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), therapeutic play, and “parts” work, among others.

Amie’s formal education includes a Masters of Social Work from Springfield College, as well as over 13 years of post-graduate/ongoing trainings and learning. She is a trainer of SMART, and faculty at Organic Intelligence.

“My beliefs about adoption include an understanding that ‘love isn’t (always) enough’. Children enter into their adoptive families with experiences/exposures that will affect them and possibly their ability to integrate into their new family system. Sometimes families require assistance in navigating/supporting those needs and in understanding the possible root causes of their child’s struggles, as well as guidance around how to begin building an attachment foundation.”
